A study based on more than 28,000 person during 20 years ( from 1994 to 2014)was done in Sweden. The aim of this study was to investigate if people following a conventional dietary recommendations or a modified Mediterranean diet will show different risks of developing all-cause dementia, Alzheimer disease (AD), vascular dementia (VaD). As dementia cases are expected to triple during the next 30 years, this study is trying to find if diet is one of the modifiable risk factors for dementia.

The answer is clear : the study shows that diets at baseline were NOT associated with

subsequent lower risk of dementia after 20-year follow-up

But please keep in mind, that many studies showed that diets are associated with risks for other diseases such as Cardio-vascular Diseases.
